Shaky start likely for Wash. state pot sales

The nation's second legal recreational marijuana market is opening in Washington state Tuesday, but it might not be what voters expected when they legalized the sale of heavily taxed pot a year and a half ago.

According to USA Today, the state's Liquor Control Board has been slammed with pot-license applications, and the review process has been slow.

Only one store is expected to be ready to launch in Seattle on opening day, and demand is projected to outweigh supply.

While 79 growers have been licensed since Initiative 502 won voter approval, most don't expect to have their first shipment ready until late summer, according to USA Today.
