Lockwood-based S&H Farm Supply Inc. is nearing completion of renovations for its fifth store.
The Branson farm equipment and vehicle outlet, at 250 Adair Road, is targeted to open by mid-February, said Scott Crowder, the store’s general manager and the company’s lawn and garden parts manager.
Crowder said the closure of Hollister-based B & L Outdoor Power Equipment in mid-2019 left a service gap in the Branson area.
“We started to see an influx of customers from the Tri-Lakes area coming to our store in Rogersville,” he said. “It just became apparent pretty quickly that there was a need.”
S&H Farm Supply purchased a 20-acre site with a 6,250-square-foot building for undisclosed terms for the new store, Crowder said. It was bought from Ozark Mountain Ventures LLC and Shane Gunter, who operated Premier Landscapes at the site north of Pinegar Chevrolet, according to a news release.
Crowder said renovations to the property are “in the neighborhood of $100,000.”
“The building was fairly open because they used the bulk of it as a shop,” he said.
Founded 50 years ago, S&H Farm Supply’s current stores are in Lockwood, Rogersville, Mountain Grove and Joplin.
While a disruption in international trade has the capacity to hurt local farmers and ranchers, beef producers are having a good go of things at the moment.
