Sponsored by the Seymour Merchant's Association, Apple Festival 2001, held Sept. 68, featured more than 100 craft booths. Toni Kain operated a booth at the event, where he sold his handmade candles. Kain makes the candles in his spare time when he's not working at First USA.
The 2001 Apple Festival Parade brought entries from Springfield and throughout southwest Missouri. Live music, apple-peeling contests and lots of "down-home cooking" also were part of the event.
