Seven St. Louis Cardinals making above MLB average salary this year

The St. Louis Cardinals won the opening game against the Chicago Cubs yesterday. Seven of its players are big winners when it comes to pay.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports those seven are making above the MLB average of $4.25 million.

They are starting pitcher Adam Wainwright ($19.5 million); outfielder Matt Holliday ($16.2 million); catcher Yadier Molina ($15.2 million); shortstop Jhonny Peralta ($15 million); starting pitcher Jaime Garcia ($9.4 million); outfielder Jason Heyward ($8.8 million); and starting pitcher Lance Lynn ($7 million). Outfield Jon Jay is close, with a 2015 salary of $4.1 million.
