September brings highest sales tax check since 2007

Posted online
The largest sales tax check received from the Missouri Department of Revenue since September 2007 came in this month.

The city of Springfield's sales tax check for the month of September is up 21.5 percent to $4.8 million from $3.9 million in September 2010, according to a news release.

Sales tax checks represent collections from previous months.

The news release noted that the September check is representative of the monthly and quarterly timeframes that various types of businesses are required to pay taxes.

The latest check brings fiscal 2011 sales tax revenue up to $10.6 million, an 11.9 percent uptick compared to $9.4 million at the same time last year.
