Seniors inventing second careers to keep working

The number of Americans ages 65 and older who are still working is on the rise, according to the Kansas City Star.

According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, there are now roughly 8 million workers over 65, which is nearly double the 4.8 million who were part of the workforce in 2004.

The trend is driven by increasing life expectancy rates and an aging baby-boomer generation. Baby boomers are turning 65 at a 10,000-person-a-day clip, leaving many to “unretire” and reinvent careers.
