U.S. Senate leaders yesterday signaled their optimism about a government spending deal.
They said a deal was near despite President Donald Trump saying he would "love to see a shutdown" if Democrats don't work on border security and immigration reform.
The House passed a short-term spending bill last night to avoid a shutdown. According to NBC News, it has little chance of passing the Senate in its current form.
