The U.S. Senate on Wednesday voted to confirm Merrick Garland as attorney general.
Garland gained bipartisan support with a 70-30 confirmation vote.
Garland has said his first priority as attorney general would be to prosecute crimes connected to the January insurrection at the Capitol.
