The parade begins at 2 p.m. Monday at Grand Avenue and John Q. Hammons Parkway and will travel west on Grand, move south on Campbell and end at Fassnight Park. Its theme is “Working Families United.”
A picnic will follow at the park, starting at 3 p.m. Lunch tickets are $3.50; food will include bratwursts, hot dogs, chips and soda. All proceeds go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Edwards will speak at 4:15 p.m. Other scheduled speakers include Missouri State Auditor and candidate for U.S. Senate Claire McCaskill, Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon, Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer Tom Keegl and state auditor candidate Susan Montee.
Games and inflatables will be available for kids, and free Local 245 Labor Day T-shirts will be handed out to the first 500 attendees. They will be distributed at the Union Hall 10 a.m.–noon and at the parade’s starting point after that.
