The Greene County Assessor's Office is reminding residents that May 1 is the deadline to submit property lists to the assessor's office without facing late fines.
Residents who did not return their 2010 Personal Property and Business Assessment lists by the original March 1 deadline should have received a second notice in the mail, according to a news release. The list must be filled out and returned by May 1 to avoid late fees, which range from $10 to $100 depending on assessed value. Lists postmarked by May 1 will be accepted without penalty, the release said.
Residents and business owners who didn't receive lists should call the assessor's office at (417) 868-4195 or visit the office, 940 Boonville Ave., Room 37, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
State law requires county residents and business owners as of Jan. 1 to declare all taxable personal and business property, including motor vehicles, boats, trailers, livestock, farm machinery and business-related equipment.[[In-content Ad]]
