SEC membership increasing Mizzou sponsorship revenue

Posted online
Since the University of Missouri joined the Southeastern Conference, its sponsorship revenue has grown by double digits, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Sponsors such as Regions Financial Corp. (NYSE: RF), Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY), LG Electronics Inc. and Allstate Insurance have signed multiyear deals since last year with Mizzou Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Sports, which manages sponsorship sales for Missouri’s athletic department.

Looking forward, several large sponsorships are up for renewal this year, which is expected to bode well for the school as the deals are generally more lucrative following a winning season.

While Mizzou will play in the SEC championship game on Saturday, there is no extra financial benefit coming from the conference for its participation, as the SEC shares revenue from the game with all of its member schools, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
