SEC investigating Melvin Capital Management

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has started investigating hedge fund Melvin Capital Management, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

The investigation focuses, in part, on whether the company allegedly misled investors when it raised money last year.

It's also looking into the company's discussions after a rally of so-called meme stocks damaged the hedge fund last year.
