The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission disclosed yesterday hackers gained access last year to its electronic system for storing public-company filings.
The disclosure noted hackers may have traded illegally using stolen information.
SEC Chairman Jay Clayton said the hack was discovered in 2016 but regulators did not learn about possible illegal trading until August.
