More than 200,000 parking tickets issued in the city of Seattle over a seven-month period have been voided or will be refunded.
The effort is expected to cost the city up to $5 million.
At issue is parking enforcement officers who transitioned from the Seattle Police Department into the Seattle Department of Transportation. They had not been granted “special commission” status to perform enforcement activities until April.
