Derek Mackay, Scotland's finance minister, has stepped down from his post amid reports of inappropriate messages to a 16-year-old boy on social media.
Mackay reportedly contacted the boy over a six-month period and called him "cute."
Mackay said he "behaved foolishly" and apologized "unreservedly" to the boy and his family.
His resignation came just hours before he was scheduled to deliver his budget.
