The Francis Howell School District in St. Charles County is planning nearly $7 million in budget cuts via layoffs and position eliminations.
The district intends to lay off 68 teachers, around four administrators and 80 support staff members. Roughly 65 of the support staff positions are currently vacant.
District officials cited the St. Charles County district’s inability to pass a tax levy three times in recent years, as well as staff raises and increased benefit expenses.
