A public hearing on the increase is at 5:30 p.m. at the Kraft Administrative Center, 940 N. Jefferson Ave. The board’s regular meeting will follow immediately.
If the board gives approval, the district’s operating tax rate would increase to nearly $3.11 per $100 of assessed value, plus 51 cents per $100 of value for debt service. The current rate is about $3.05, plus 51 cents for debt service.
The rate increase is expected to generate $90.7 million in operations revenue, which would cover added employees and a 4.5 percent cost-of-living raise for all district staff, according to district Director of Financial Services Cherie Alderson.
Other items on the agenda include adding air conditioning at Bissett Elementary School and a design concept for Hickory Hills K–8 School.
