Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt became one of 50 state attorneys general investigating Google.
The antitrust investigation is examining whether Google has prioritized search results for advertisers. Schmitt said competitors, particularly smaller businesses, could be harmed by the behavior.
Google Chief Legal Officer Kent Walker said the company would work with the states on the investigation.
"We have always worked constructively with regulators and we will continue to do so," he said.
