The designer of Schlitterbahn's Verruckt water slide in Kansas City, Kansas, is being held in the Dallas County jail after authorities arrested him Monday night, according to the Kansas City Star.
John Schooley, 72, was taken into custody at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport by U.S. marshals after arriving on a flight from China. He is being held without bond and is expected to be taken to Kansas for a first appearance before a Wyandotte County judge.
From New Braunfels, Texas, Schooley has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 10-year-old Caleb Schwab, who died riding Verruckt in 2016. Schooley had been working on a project in Asia when a grand jury handed down indictments against five defendants, the Star reports.
