Schlafly planning expansion in St. Louis

St. Louis Brewery, which operates Schlafly Beer, is planning to build an additional brewery in the metropolitan area, possibly in north St. Louis County or north St. Louis city, according to a St. Louis Business Journal report.

A company official says the beer company has outgrown its primary brewing facility in Maplewood.

The expansion could boost Schlafly's production to 150,000 barrels a year from its current 50,000 level.
