SBU names temporary chief to succeed retiring provost

Posted online
Southwest Baptist University named an interim provost for the 2015-16 academic year to fill in for the retiring Bill Brown.

Effective July 1, Allison Langford, associate provost for teaching and learning, took over the temporary position, according to a news release. Brown had worked as provost since 2009 and also previously served as acting dean of SBU's business college.

“We are so fortunate to have someone as knowledgeable and talented as Allison to step into the interim provost position for the upcoming academic year,” SBU President C. Pat Taylor said in the release. “Our chief academic officer is such an important role for the university.”

Langford started at SBU in 2003 as an instructor of university studies and in 2005 was named director of the Gordon & Judy Dutile Honors Program. She was promoted to assistant professor of university studies in 2010, took on her current position of assistant provost in 2011 and was named associate professor this year. She also is a member of the college’s executive cabinet.
