What Readers Think
IMAX
After three years of empty promises, I think that all of Springfield feels like the IMAX Theater will never get built. With an original opening date in 2004 and second set for spring this year, it is easy to see that the developer behind this project is going to once again break a promise. Nothing has happened at the site since four cranes were outlining the building’s edges. (We) would love to see some steel go up instead of an invisible building. If the people behind this project aren’t sure when the theater will be completed, they should have never made a public announcement.
If and when the IMAX gets built, not only will it be a hit, but it will help out the museum tremendously. They could do a ticket combination where you can get a movie ticket and a museum ticket for half the price. —Aaron Plymire, Anchor Properties and Realty

It’s only marketing that needs to be addressed. They are not doing enough to effectively reach the massive (market of) potential interested customers. Simply purchase mailing lists of people interested in adventure, hiking, camping, fishing and other enthusiasts and send out postcards that briefly describe what the museum is all about.
Do not lower the “front-end” price. Instead, offer a specific discount – up to 50 percent – if they come in between June and August. Making it available to the consumer at the most opportune times to fit the needs of vacationers is the surest way to make this … a win-win for Bass Pro Shops and the customers. —Kevin M.
