What Readers Think
Apple
Apple continually creates new technology products for the next generations. It is a trendsetter and attracts other like-minded companies. Costco? Another Sam’s. Fifth Third Bancorp? Yeah, we need one more bank in this town. General Motors? Dinosaur. Hilton? Sure, but I can drive to Branson. Nordstrom? Whole Foods? Would love them, but if Apple comes to town, we’ll have a Nordstrom and Whole Foods on every corner. If we can’t get Apple, let’s try to get “Other.”

I would like to see Apple, or some similar high-tech firm, do business in Springfield. I am a software engineer, would like to relocate to Springfield (where my girls live), and thus would like to see job growth in my field in Springfield.

Whole Foods Market
I wish there was (a Whole Foods) in Springfield ever so badly. My first encounter was in the City of Brotherly Love (when) I was dating a girl who is … a vegetarian in every since of the word. As our relationship grew, so did my taste buds with regard to organic foods. I began educating myself (and found that) although it cost more for organics, it pays off in the long run. The sizes are smaller, there is no genetically modified stuff or pesticides/herbicides used. These things in mass consumption cannot only be harmful to the ozone but (also to) one’s insides.
I like Whole Foods because they obtain products locally and from all over the world, often from small, uniquely dedicated food artisans. … Whole Foods needs to come to Springfield.
—Samuel Preylo Jr., Lakeland Regional Hospital and MidWest Psychological Group
My husband has to be on a strict gluten-free diet. There are many items he could eat that are supplied at Whole Foods Market and nowhere else, especially in this area. Springfield is 40 miles from us, but I would gladly make the trip to obtain a greater variety for him. I know that there are many people in this same position. I will watch anxiously for the addition of this retailer.

Costco Wholesale
We would love to see Costco here in Springfield. We travel 180 miles per month to go to the one in Kansas City. We really like Costco’s products and what they have to offer. We find shopping at Costco always a pleasurable experience.
