SBJ wins seven industry awards

Springfield Business Journal pulled in seven awards during the 146th annual Missouri Press Association convention, held Sept. 22 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia.

SBJ was part of the Class 3 Weeklies category for a circulation of 4,001 to 8,000. The Missouri Press Association, founded in 1867, represents more than 260 newspapers in Missouri. Its headquarters are in Columbia.

Heather Mosley, advertising designer for SBJ, won first and third place for Best Ad Idea or Promotion of an Advertiser, and third place for Best Ad Idea or Promotion of the Newspaper.

The editorial team won:
  • second place for Best Business Story, "Phoenix rises from Integrity breakup," by Brian Brown;
  • second place for Best Online Newspaper or Website, SBJ.net;
  • third place for Best Local Business Coverage; and
  • an honorable mention for General Excellence.

Dave Berry, of Bolivar, was inducted into the MPA's Newspaper Hall of Fame for contributions to the industry. Berry is vice president of Community Publishers Inc. of Bentonville, Ark., and publisher of southwest Missouri newspapers The Bolivar Herald-Free Press, The Buffalo Reflex, The Cedar County Republican, The Christian County Headliner, The Marshfield Mail, Nixa Xpress and The Republic Monitor. Neighbor News, a division of Community Publishers Inc., also runs Nowata Printing Co., which has a Springfield office in the Partnership Industrial Center.[[In-content Ad]]
