Springfield Business Journal has found its new headquarters after a yearlong search.
SBJ, which operates under SBJ Media, is now located at 300 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway in the John Q. Hammons Building.
"Finding the right permanent home has been an important step for our organization," said Marty Goodnight, owner and publisher of SBJ Media, in a news release. "Like every business, we've spent this year making thoughtful decisions about where to invest our resources. This office strengthens collaboration, supports our team and reflects our long-term commitment to serving Springfield's business community."
SBJ previously was located in Chesterfield Village. The company started looking for a new home about a year ago, according to past reporting, but didn’t leave Chesterfield Village until the end of 2025.
It's a return to the downtown area for SBJ, which relocated in 2019 to Chesterfield Village. Prior to that move, downtown was the company’s home for nearly 40 years. The previous headquarters was at 313 Park Central West.
"We believe it's important to be where business happens," Goodnight said in the release. "Downtown Springfield is the center of so much of our region's economic activity. Being here strengthens our connection to the community and creates an environment where our team can collaborate, innovate and better serve our readers, advertisers and business partners."
According to the release, the move reduced occupancy costs by more than 50%. Details on costs associated with the move and lease agreement were undisclosed, Goodnight told SBJ’s newsroom.
