SBJ selects first class of nonprofit award winners

Posted online

Springfield Business Journal’s inaugural Nonprofit Excellence Awards will honor nine area nonprofits and three individuals serving the field.

The event, which was started at Drury University and later was hosted by what is now Forvis Mazars, has been revitalized by SBJ with a new class of honorees.

In the large organizations category, the top three nonprofits with an annual operating budget of over $3.5 million are:

  • Community Partnership of the Ozarks Inc.
  • Good Samaritan Boys Ranch
  • Ozarks Food Harvest Inc.

The midsize category, nonprofits with budgets between $500,000 and up to $3.5 million, includes the following:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks Inc.
  • CASA of Southwest Missouri
  • The Kitchen Inc.

The final category of small nonprofits with up to $500,000 operating budgets are:

  • Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth
  • GYN Cancers Alliance
  • On Angels’ Wings

A top honor in each category will be announced live at the event, with the winning organization receiving a cash prize.

Also at the gala, SBJ will honor professionals with individual awards.

Determined by the judges, the individual honors are awarded in three categories:

  • CEO/Executive Director of the Year: Brandy Harris of Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Inc.
  • Board Member of the Year: Jordan Gibson serving Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri Inc. and Harmony House
  • Employee of the Year: Kassie Fox of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth
