SBJ selects 12 People You Need to Know in 2014

Posted online
Springfield Business Journal editors have picked their 2014 list of 12 People You Need to Know.

The live, monthly interview series brings newsmakers before readers, introducing up-and-coming professionals, businesspeople who have relocated and are building their southwest Missouri resumes, instrumental yet behind-the-scenes personnel and notable names with whom readers would like to get to know better.

Next year's list features a baker's dozen, as the owners of a health-food grocery chain will appear together.

The 2014 interview guests, in alphabetical order, are:
  • Eric Burlison, state representative and a consultant for Cerner Corp.;
  • Tim Connell, president and producer of Branson-based Connell Insurance Inc.;
  • Thomas Douglas, president and CEO of JMark Business Solutions Inc.;
  • Susie Farbin and Diana Hicks, co-owners of MaMa Jean’s Natural Foods Market LLC;
  • Virginia Fry, partner at Husch Blackwell LLP;
  • Brett Godfrey, owner of Built By Brett Inc. and 2013 president of the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield;
  • Peter Herschend, co-owner of Herschend Family Entertainment Corp., Silver Dollar City and the Harlem Globetrotters;
  • Memo Latapi, publisher of El Mensajero;
  • Kyle Moats, athletic director at Missouri State University;
  • Kyle Wiley Pickett, music conductor and director of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra;
  • Dr. Robert Steele, president of Mercy Hospital Springfield; and
  • Carol Taylor, president-elect and CEO of Evangel University.
SBJ Editor Eric Olson conducts interviews the third Tuesday of every month at Hilton Garden Inn. The dates for individual guests will be released in December, and a special section will be published Dec. 23.

SBJ is finishing 2013 with 12 People guests Kay Logsdon, vice president and editor-in-chief of The Food Channel, on Nov. 19; and Scott Miller, general manager of City Utilities of Springfield, on Dec. 17. For more information, visit SBJ.net/12people.[[In-content Ad]]
