The committee had the task of naming a local recipient as Businesswoman of the Year as part of National Businesswomen’s Week, which wrapped up Oct. 21.
At an Oct. 18 ceremony, Springfield Business Journal Publisher Dianne Elizabeth Osis was given the honor.
“I’m honored to be picked because I know Springfield is a strong community for strong women in business,” Osis said. “I have so many role models.”
Osis was chosen from nominations submitted by the organization’s members. The committee considered nominees for their accomplishments and their influence on the community.
Deanna Ford, president-elect for the local chapter, said there were “a couple of prominent women in Springfield” among the bunch.
“It was a very tough decision,” Ford said. “Dianne Elizabeth (Osis) has recognized 120 women for the Most Influential Women (awards event), and that is really what we’re about – women’s issues and recognizing women.”
This is the first year the organization has given the award.
Four-year Greater Ozarks Business and Professional Women member Cindy Reed was named the 2005 Member of the Year.
