SBJ names 2024 class of Health Care Champions

Springfield Business Journal continues its tradition of honoring local health care professionals during June’s Health Care Champions awards event.

An independent panel of judges selected individual recipients among nominated individuals in the following fields: physician, specialty provider, administrator, advanced practice provider, nurse and health care professional. Health care organizations also were awarded in three categories according to size: large, companies with 500 or more employees; midsize, 100-499 employees; and small, up to 99 employees.

The 2024 honorees are:

Physician: Dr. Chan Ngo Reyes, family physician and medical director for family medicine, express care and vision departments at Jordan Valley Community Health Center; Dr. Sadaf Sohrab, chief medical officer for Mercy Hospital Springfield; and Dr. Nathan Y. Tonlaar, radiation oncologist at Mercy Hospital Springfield.

Specialty Provider: Mandi Brantley, physical therapist at Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation; Mallory Moore, speech-language pathologist at CoxHealth; and Robert Baker, physical therapist and site coordinator at Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation.

Administrator: Gina Ellerbee, administrative director of nursing practice for CoxHealth; Bill Hennessey, vice president of mission for Mercy Springfield Communities; and Luke D. Walker, executive director of support services for Mercy Hospital Springfield.

Advanced Practice Provider: Melissa Johnston, nurse practitioner at Eustasis Psychiatric & Addiction Health.

Nurse: Lacey Gates, intensive care nurse manager at Mercy Hospital Springfield; and Jessica Atchison, executive director of professional practice at Mercy Hospital Springfield.

Health Care Professional: Jarrett Finnell, director of materials management at Citizens Memorial Hospital; Elena Bozek, medical-surgical educator at CoxHealth; and Ashley Wilson, child life services manager for Mercy Hospital Springfield.

Health Care Organization: Citizens Memorial Hospital/Health Care Foundation, large; Springfield-Greene County Health Department, midsize; and Restoring Hope, small.

The banquet is scheduled June 27 at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center.
