More than 180 people were in attendance Nov. 11 for the fifth annual Springfield Business Journal Choice Employers awards ceremony, which recognized 20 companies in four categories. Dunton & Associates, Amberg Entertainment, Commerce Bank and St. John's were chosen as the top companies in their respective size categories.
Honorees and guests were on hand at 425 Downtown, a venue at 425 W. Walnut St.
Employers were chosen in three categories: 5-24 employees, 25-100 employees and 301+ employees.
Winners were chosen based on their answers in an online survey to questions in five areas: incentives, family friendly policies, people development, corporate culture and civic activities. Multiple-choice answers had assigned point values and scores -
available here - were verified by Drury University's Edward Jones Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.
In the 5-24 employee category, Dunton & Associates was given the No. 1 honor. The accounting firm received the top overall score for people development and the No. 1 score for corporate culture in the 5-24 employee category.
Nos. 2-5, respectively, in the category were GeoEngineers Inc., Pension Consultants Inc., Sapp Design Associates Architects PC and GHN Architects/Engineers.
Amberg Entertainment Inc. scored the No. 1 spot in the 25-100 employees category. The business scored No. 1 in corporate culture in the 25-100 employee category and tied for top overall score among all 20 Choice Employers.
Other honorees in the 25-100 employees category were Reliable Imports & RV, UMB Bank, Kirkpatrick, Phillips & Miller CPAs PC and Rick's Automotive.
In the 101-300 employees category, Commerce Bank scored highest, earning it a first place selection. The company tied for top overall score among all 20 Choice Employers and received the highest overall score in incentives in its category.
Other honorees were The Track, UnitedHealthcare, BKD LLP and Siemens Turbomachinery Solutions.
St. John's Health System was the No. 1 selection in the 301+ employees category. The hospital tied for second-highest score in being family friendly and tied for third highest in people development.
The other 301+ employees honorees were T-Mobile USA Inc., Drury University, American National Property & Casualty Co. and Silver Dollar City.
