SBJ honors 40 Under 40 at Ramada Oasis

Roughly 370 professionals and their families attended Springfield Business Journal's 2011 40 Under 40 awards ceremony May 19 at Ramada Oasis Convention Center.

Each year, SBJ honors 40 professionals under the age of 40 for their career, civic and personal accomplishments. This year's class spanned from 28-year-olds Erica Frazier of Chase Card Services, Jennifer Baker Hornick of Touchstone Helping Families and Sondra Uzzell of Ambassadors for Children to 39-year-olds Chris Davis of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, Mike Fusek of Sperry Van Ness/Rankin Co., Benjamin Gross of Missouri State University, Scott McDonald of Empire Bank, Mike Nichols of Husch Blackwell LLP and Lelia Voss of U.S. Bank. For the first time, a husband and wife were selected in the same year, as Brad Erwin of Paragon Architecture Inc. and Cara Restelli of the Better Business Bureau were honored.

Kevin Howard and Liz Delany of Clear Channel Radio's Alice 95.5 served as masters of ceremonies. (View photos from last night's event.)

Each class is selected by a panel of independent judges. Judging the 80 applicants this year were Dr. Todd Buzbee of Buzbee Dental Clinic PC, Tyler James of James Financial Partners LLC, David Ross of Morelock-Ross Group of Cos., Crystal Webster of Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and Jennifer Wilson of Jennifer Wilson Architect LLC. Judges are asked to recuse themselves from scoring applicants for whom they rate objectively due to friendships or family relationships.

SBJ has organized the event and publication since 1999. The 2011 40 Under 40 publication was inserted into the May 16 issue.

SBJ accepts nominations year-round at the link below.
