A veteran Queen City journalist has been hired for a newly created role in the newsroom at Springfield Business Journal.
Gregory Holman is scheduled to start July 18 as deputy editor. He joins SBJ from KSMU and Ozarks Public Radio, where he's been a reporter and editor since 2022.
"I'm really excited about this new adventure and the opportunity to contribute to the community by just providing that business intelligence that the business journal has been known for for decades," Holman said.
In the deputy editor role, Holman will be charged with editing news stories, shaping newsroom coverage and content, enhancing digital engagement and reporting on key business news, said SBJ Executive Editor Christine Temple.
"Greg is a fantastic addition to the newsroom at SBJ," Temple said. "His varied experience in media – from magazine and newspaper to broadcast and digital – will be an asset as we continually evolve to best serve our readers."
Holman's career includes serving as an investigative reporter and engagement editor at the Springfield News-Leader, as editorial director at 417 Magazine and as a freelance journalist.
Holman referred to his experience as "a nomad's career."
"It's been a rapidly changing news and media environment, so I've had a lot of pivots," he said. "I think those kinds of experiences can be beneficial to a newsroom."
