SBJ Economic Growth Survey 2020

Posted online

Dear Readers,

I am coming to you today with a very important request. I’m asking for about 15 minutes of your time to respond to Springfield Business Journal’s Economic Growth Survey for the second time this year. We are all painfully aware of how rapidly our business environment is changing with the threat and spread of COVID-19. SBJ’s previous survey closed just two weeks prior to any significant changes or reported cases in the state. Having taken such a recent measurement, we are uniquely positioned to capture the impact of this crisis on business confidence, employment, capital, purchasing, real estate, and so much more.

Most importantly, we have an opportunity to look beyond this crisis and inform the decisions that we will all need to make in order to recover and find a new equilibrium. I expect the results of this survey to be an important measurement in time that can be contextually compared to results from SBJ’s prior business confidence survey, H2R’s nationwide COVID-19 study and potentially other business communities in the country. I would also expect to take a third measurement in time after the local shelter in place order has lifted. Please help us help you. Take 15 minutes to respond in the best way that you can to the questions attached. Together, we can shape our path forward.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Jackson, Publisher

While a disruption in international trade has the capacity to hurt local farmers and ranchers, beef producers are having a good go of things at the moment.
