SBJ announces 2007 Economic Impact finalists

An independent panel of five judges has selected the finalists for Springfield Business Journal’s 2007 Economic Impact Awards.

Finalists are in five categories: banking, architecture, charitable organizations, Entrepreneur of the Year and Innovator of the Year. The 2007 Lifetime Achievement in Business Award will be presented to Jim Anderson, president of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

Presented alphabetically in each category, the finalists are:

• Banking: Commerce Bank, Guaranty Bank and Ozark Mountain Bank;

• Architecture: Butler, Rosenbury & Partners, Creative Ink Architects and H Design Group;

• Charitable Organization of the Year: Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Ozarks Area Community Action Corp. and United Way of the Ozarks;

• Entrepreneur of the Year: Hammer Collections, JT Restaurant Group and Moxie Cinema; and

• Innovator of the Year: 1984 Arcade, Dynamic Earth/Green Circle Shopping Center and U.S. Photonics.

Chamber President Anderson has served the chamber for 19 years. In addition, he is chairman of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. Anderson received the Missourian Award in 2006 and the Springfieldian Award in 2005.

The awards will be presented at a July 26 banquet in Bass Pro Shops’ White River Room. A reception starts at 6 p.m. with the ceremony and dinner to follow at 7 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be Springfield businessman Jack Stack, founder of SRC Holdings Corp. and Great Game of Business, which promotes an open-book management philosophy.
