The Small Business Administration has officially weighed in on using Paycheck Protection Program funds to pay for bonuses after speculation on the topic.
SBA officials say bonuses, hazard pay or other extra compensation can be doled out to employees but not owners.
Bonuses can be given out – and forgiven – as long as the employee's total salary does not exceed $100,000 on an annualized basis, according to the SBA.
