SBA appoints Region VII advocate for small business

Southwest Missouri businessman and former legislator Wendell Bailey was appointed the Region VII advocate for the U.S. Small Business Administration' s Office of Advocacy, and will serve as the direct link between small-business owners, state and local government agencies, legislators, small-business associations and the Office of Advocacy.|ret||ret||tab|

Bailey has more than 20 years experience in local, state and national government, and he is a small-business owner and entrepreneur. |ret||ret||tab|

Most recently, he owned Wendell Bailey Auto Exchange in Willow Springs. He also has owned Wendell Bailey Pontiac, GMC, AMC, Jeep, Renault and the Willow Springs Banner newspaper.|ret||ret||tab|

"I am pleased to be part of President Bush's team at the Office of Advocacy. I look forward to working closely with small businesses in Region VII and bringing their concerns to Washington, D.C.," Bailey said. |ret||ret||tab|

Regional advocates work to help identify new issues and concerns of small-business owners. |ret||ret||tab|

They also monitor the impact of federal and state policies on small business at the local level and work with local and state government officials and the Chief Counsel for Advocacy to develop programs and policies to encourage entrepreneurial success. |ret||ret||tab|

He is already a well-known advocate for small business from his service in the U.S. Congress, as a Missouri legislator and as Missouri's state treasurer.
