“Choreocopia, The Fourth Edition” is 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. each night at Vandivort Center Theatre, 305 E. Walnut, featuring dance performances by Southwest Missouri State University students. April 19

American dance company Pilobolus performs at 7:30 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts, featuring its nontraditional collaborative choreography.

Ticket prices range from $18.50 to $28.50 and are available at (417) 836-SMSU or online at www.hammonshall.com.

An introduction by Julie Bubalo, owner of Ozark Dance Academy, will be presented 45 minutes prior to the performance on the hall’s mezzanine balcony Level 5.

April 21-23

The musical “42nd Street,” with a cast that includes SMSU graduate Kyle Dean Massey in the leading role of Billy Lawlor, is at 7:30 p.m. April 21, 8 p.m. April 22 and 2 and 8 p.m. April 23.

An introduction by SMSU Music Theater Coordinator Michael Casey will be presented 45 minutes prior to each show. Ticket prices range from $15 to $48 and are available at (417) 836-SMSU or online at www.hammonshall.com.

April 23

Main Street Hoops, a three-on-three basketball tournament, begins at 8 a.m. at North Commercial and Atlantic streets in downtown Branson. Admission is free. The team entry fee is $40, and there may be three or four players per team. There are divisions for children and youth age 7 and up and for adult players.

April 28

The Fifth Annual Salute to Travel and Tourism awards banquet and benefit begins with a reception at 6 p.m. April 28 at University Plaza Hotel, 333 John Q. Hammons Parkway.

Dinner begins at 7 p.m. The event is a collaboration of the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau and Springfield Regional Arts Council, which will present its Ozzie Awards.

Broadway performer and Springfield resident Kim Crosby performs, and the guest speaker is Mark Lamping, president of the St. Louis Cardinals.

May 6

Lou Rawls performs at 8 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts, singing original music and the music of Frank Sinatra.

“Hats Off to the Women in our Lives,” the fourth annual Red Hat Luncheon, is 11:30 a.m. at the University Plaza Hotel, 333 John Q. Hammons Pkwy. A patrons’ party, beginning at 10:30 a.m., precedes the luncheon.

Dee Dee Lennon is the featured speaker at the event.

Tickets are $50 for the patrons’ party and luncheon, or $30 for the luncheon only, with proceeds to benefit Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. For tickets or additional information, call BCFO at (417) 862-3838.

May 7-8

Artsfest on Walnut Street, celebrating its 25th anniversary, is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. May 7 and 8 on Walnut Street from National Avenue west of John Q Hammons Parkway in Springfield. Presented by the Springfield Regional Arts Council and managed by Urban Districts Alliance, Artsfest is a celebration of visual and performing arts. More than 140 artists from 19 states will be displaying, selling and competing for cash awards during the event, which typically draws 30,000 to 35,000 people.

Included this year are performances by an 11-member mariachi band from one of Springfield’s sister cities, Tlaquepaque, Mexico. Admission is $3 for adults; children 12 and younger are admitted free. For additional information, visit www.springfield

May 14-15

Moon City Garden Club’s Third Annual Garden Tour and Victorian Tea is noon-5 p.m. in Springfield’s historic Midtown neighborhood. The tour features yards and gardens at five sites. Tickets for the tour alone are $5; for the tour and tea party, which includes tea and crumpets, tickets are $7.50.

The tea party will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Participants can save $1 on each ticket when purchased in blocks of 10.

Following the event, those who purchased the $7.50 tickets can show the ticket at Mudhouse and get a buy-one-get-one-free drink special. Tickets are available at Wickman’s Gardens, Linda’s Flowers and Maschino’s Home Expressions. Proceeds will benefit Boyd Elementary School and the Midtown neighborhood.

May 20-22

More than 150 craftspeople will exhibit their work in the Plumb Nellie Arts & Crafts Festival in downtown Branson, presented by the Downtown Branson Main Street Association.

Items including wood crafts, quilts, dolls, ironwork, floral arrangements and clothing will be on display in two large tents at Commercial and Atlantic Streets.

There also will be concessions on-site. The event is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, May 22. Admission is free. Additional information is available at www.downtownbranson.org.

Ongoing:Through April 30

A faculty art exhibit featuring the works of art faculty members John Gruber and Diana Callahan is on display 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Driskill Gallery at Jester Learning and Performance Center on the campus of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar.

Work includes recent drawings, collages and quilted fabric wall hangings by Callahan and graphic designs by Gruber.

Through May 5

An art exhibit featuring the work of six Evangel University students is on display 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the EU Fine Art and Design Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public. Participating students are Kari Dunham, Jamie Jernigan, Tiffani Musacchio, Ben Poulsen, Ruth Poulsen and Tiffany Ward.

Through May 29

The World of Kapla is at Discovery Center of Springfield, featuring a nonglued wood-plank system that can be used to invent, create and build. Architecture, inspired art and 3-D problem solving are illuminated through this hands-on experience.

Discovery Center is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children and $6 for seniors.

April 23-June 5

“George Nick: An Artist’s Conscience,” is on display 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 1-5 p.m. Sundays at Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Drive.

The exhibit features 45 oil paintings of urban images and landscapes by Nick, a nationally recognized realist. A reception for the exhibit will be held 5:30-7 p.m. at the museum, presented by the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates. Museum admission is free.
