Saudi Arabia lifts 35-year ban on movie theaters

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture and Information is lifting a 35-year ban on movie theaters.

"This marks a watershed moment in the development of the cultural economy in the kingdom," Minister of Culture and Information Awwad Alawwad said in a statement.

The Ministry of Culture expects to have 300 cinemas with more than 2,000 screens up and running by 2030.
