Voters in the city overwhelmingly defeated a new downtown stadium plan for the San Diego Chargers in Tuesday’s election.
By a 57 percent margin, voters struck down an increase on hotel taxes to help fund a new $1.8 billion stadium and convention center.
Now, team owner Dean Spanos has until Jan. 15 to make a decision on whether to seek a new stadium solution in San Diego or share in a lucrative new stadium with the Los Angeles Rams.
