Samsung was ordered to pay $539 million to Apple in a patent case that dates back to 2011.
Samsung originally was found liable in a 2012 trial, but a disagreement over the settlement amount led to a retrial.
In the suit, Apple alleged infringement of the round-cornered, black front face of a phone, among other features.
