South Korean prosecutors raided the offices of Samsung Electronics Co. early Tuesday morning.
The company is accused of giving money to a close friend of President Park Geun-hye who allegedly exerted influence over government affairs.
The scandal has resulted in the resignation of the president's chief of staff and four senior aides. Protesters also have lined the street of Seoul calling for the president's resignation.
Park is accused of letting her confidante Choi Soon-sil, who does not hold an official government post, view confidential documents and presidential speeches. Choi allegedly used her relationship with Park to gain millions of dollars in donations to her foundations.
