Jay Y. Lee, the heir to South Korea's Samsung Group, was sentenced to five years in prison for bribery.
A Seoul court found Lee guilty of paying bribes for favors from former President Park Geun-hye. He also was found guilty of hiding assets abroad, embezzlement and perjury.
Song Wu-cheol, one of Lee's lawyers, said they plan to appeal the court ruling.
"The entire verdict is unacceptable," Song said.
