Samsung chairman dies

Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee died Sunday after a long illness. He was 78.

A billionaire, Lee took the reins of the company in 1987, helping to grow the business into a conglomerate with interests in consumer electronics, microchips and other products.

Lee's father, Lee Byung-chull, founded Samsung in 1938. At the time, the company was an exporter of fish, fruit and noodles.
