A proclamation ceremony and kick-off event for Salute to Construction 2012 was held Oct. 23 at the $20 million Springfield-Greene County Public Safety Center, 300 W. Scott St.
More than 50 people attended the event, which included tours of the new facility, led by Dale Moore, public information officer, with lunch provided by DeWitt & Associates, Performance Contracting Inc. and Prestressed Casting.
Springfield Contractors Association President King Coltrin announced the three finalists for this year’s SCA Project Team of the Year: John Deere Reman, the Springfield-Greene County Public Safety Center and the Missouri State University Recreation Center. The winner, along with Developer of the Year, will be announced during the annual Salute to Construction banquet Nov. 1 at Howard Johnson hotel, 3333 S. Glenstone Ave.

Larry Phillips of Pellham-Phillips Architects and Engineers Inc. answers questions on the tour route. The firm, along with Winter Park, Fla.-based Architects Design Group, served as architects on the 55,000-square-foot structure.

Proclamation Ceremony emcee Matt Morrow, executive officer of the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield, addresses the crowd during the event. Morrow was hired by the local HBA in January 2001 and will start working Dec. 3 as executive vice president of the Alabama-based Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders.
