YOUR BUSINESS AUTHORITY
Springfield, MO
What sets HBA members apart? In order to become a member of the HBA, companies must submit to background and credit checks, as well as personal references from other businesses, customers and builders in the area. Builders and remodelers are required to have been in business in the area for at least two years and must have completed a minimum of five projects. Those projects are then inspected at various stages of completion by experienced HBA builders to ensure their quality. All applicants also must provide proof of workers’ compensation and general liability insurance – one of the most important requirements for HBA membership. These insurance requirements protect homeowners and homebuyers from liability for on-the-job accidents or other job-site complications.
Only companies that meet these rigid membership requirements and pass a review by the HBA Board of Directors are eligible for membership.
HBA officers, through the end of 2010, are: Rusty MacLachlan, president; Matt Bailey, vice president; Galin Campbell, treasurer; Sam Clifton, secretary; and Kevin Clingan, past president.
Within the HBA’s 10-county service territory, research tells us 90 percent of residents age 25 and older have heard of the HBA of Greater Springfield. Of those, 71 percent have a favorable opinion while only 4 percent have an unfavorable one. HBA of Greater Springfield works to offer exceptional value to its members, with savings on Home show booths, eligibility for exclusive marketing opportunities, and rebate programs on automobiles and office supplies, just to name a few benefits. These benefits add up to make the decision to join the HBA a “ no-brainer” for many of the area’s most recognizable and reputable construction and housing businesses.
There are, of course, other critically important – if sometimes less visible – reasons to be a part of the HBA of Greater Springfield. The HBA is the chief advocate in the region for promoting pro-housing, pro-construction policies and ordinances, and for successfully supporting pro-housing political candidates. One voice in the wilderness can’t always make a difference. But the strength of the unified voice of more than 400 member companies of the HBA of Greater Springfield can. Members of the HBA become part of an effective advocacy program at the local, state and national levels, fighting for the good of the industry. That’s good news not only for those who work to make their living in the residential construction industry, but also for their customers who care about affordability, safety, and quality in the housing they occupy.
