Salute, Health Care Champions honorees announced

Springfield Business Journal and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce are announcing the honorees who will be recognized at Salute to Health Care 2010 in October.

The chamber will recognize two physicians and present one posthumous award, and SBJ will recognize 12 individuals in four categories with Health Care Champions awards.

The chamber’s Salute to Health Care honorees, chosen by a chamber committee, are Dr. José Dominguez of Ferrell-Duncan Clinic; Dr. Meera Scarrow of St. John’s Clinic and Jordan Valley Community Health Center; and Trudi Scott, a pediatric nurse practitioner at Jordan Valley Community Health Center who died in a car accident in March.

SBJ’s Health Care Champions were selected by a panel of judges: Carmen Parker Bradshaw, Springfield-Greene County Regional Health Commission; Ron Carrier, Missouri Attorney General’s Office, southwest region; Paula Goodin, Barker-Phillips-Jackson Inc.; Gary Maddox, Southwest Center for Independent Living; and Rusty Worley, Urban Districts Alliance.

The honorees, in alphabetical order by category, are:
• June Johnson, CoxHealth; Deborah Lowrance, St. John’s; and Carol Thomas, CoxHealth, in the oncology nurse category;

• Rebecca Crocker, Ozarks Technical Community College; Pam Holt, St. John’s; and Robert O. Lunn, Missouri State University, in the community or classroom educator category:

• Gary Grove, Grove Pharmacy; Lynn Morris, Family Pharmacy Inc.; and James Weissler, Jordan Valley Community Health Center, in the pharmacist category; and

• Tracy Cleveland, St. John’s and MSU; Jeff Del Vecchio, St. John’s; and Jodi Flynn, CoxHealth and MSU, in the physician's assistant category.

Salute to Healthcare 2010 will be held 6–8:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Doubletree Hotel, 2431 N. Glenstone Ave. Tickets are $40 apiece and are available at www.springfieldchamber.com/salute.[[In-content Ad]]
