The Missouri Sales Tax Holiday, Aug. 5-7, exempts shoppers from paying state sales tax on notebooks, pencils, folders, children’s clothing, personal computers and most other supplies needed for the 2005-2006 school year.
Some cities also have opted to participate in a local sales tax exemption. Lebanon and Republic are the nearest participating cities, but Springfield, Nixa, Branson, Willard, Marshfield, Battlefield, Ozark and others declined. State sales tax exemptions still apply.
A complete listing of nonparticipating cities and counties in Missouri is available at www.mochamber.com.
Sales tax is not charged on clothing items under $100, personal computers under $3,500 and school supplies under $50 each.
