The Saint Louis Zoo announced plans for a $2 million conservation habitat to house American red wolves.
The organization is using 20 acres of its 355-acre Saint Louis Zoo Sears Lehmann Jr. Wildlife Reserve in Franklin County for the habitat.
The reserve will not be open to the public, as zoo officials want the wolves to "learn natural survival skills without much human interaction in the secured facility," officials said. There are only about 20 red wolves left in the wild, according to zoo officials.
