Sacred Ground

Posted online
Christ Episcopal Church, 601 E. Walnut St., broke ground Dec. 4 for a new addition to its more than 130-year-old building. About 250 people attended the event, including Springfield Mayor Tom Carlson and Mayor Pro Tem Ralph Manley.

Bishop Barry Howe, right, of the Episcopal Diocese of West Missouri uses a backhoe to help in the groundbreaking for the expansion, which will cost the church about $2.5 million.
