Russia now the world's third-largest military spender

At $69.2 billion in 2016, Russia has become the third-largest military spender worldwide.

The 5.9 percent increase puts Russia behind the United States and China.

During 2016, the United States spent $611 billion on its military. China was at roughly $215 billion.
